Bible Revelation  Chapter 5

Chapter 5 is clearly talking about Jesus Christ. Stop! Suddenly you are saying, 'Wait a minute this is Revelation there must be more items we do not understand from Revelation chapters 1 to 4. ” Remember, I am a layman and my understanding is straight from Jesus Christ not a paradigm given by a Theologian a person filled with biases. God/Jesus has no biases in any way. Remember what 1 John 2: 27, “...the anointing which you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that any one should teach you; as his anointing teaches you about everything...” Many people do not believe Jesus is a real person1 and the Holy Spirit is real in your heart, he teaches you. What about John 14 :25, “But the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name and will teach you all things.” It is true, I found it true. Having said this, remember, if you are clearly depending on the Holy Spirit to teach you he will lead you to other sources. That is, the Holy Spirit sends you, not you yourself. Sources can be anything, books, film, courses, friends, ministers. Sudden insights that come out of the heavens. Let's get back to Revelation.

This chapter has a person2 on the throne holding a scroll in his right hand, and on the back of the scroll were seven seals. An angel called out, “Who is worthy to break the seals,” No one in heaven or on the earth was found,” John wept about it. Then one of the elders said, “Weep not; the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has conquered,3 The root of David was between the throne and the four creatures and among the elders, I saw a Lamb standing as though it had been slain 4 so he can open the scroll and its seven seals.” So Jesus/Lamb took the scroll and then the creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down worshiping holding a harps, and with golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayer of the saints.

So, they all sang a wonderful song that gladdens our hearts,

Jesus was worthy to open the seals because he died and shed his blood as a ransom for men, (all people for God).. Jesus ransomed his life for you and me. People from every nation, tribe and tongue to make us priests to God and they shall reign on earth. There is a possibility that Revelation 11: 15 the seventh trumpet on the day of judgment talks about, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ,” We can say to reign on the earth in the new heaven and earth.5

The cry went out, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power, wealth, wisdom, might, honour, glory and blessing.” And who are worshiping the Lamb;? The living creatures, elders, angles myriads of myriads and thousands and thousands. Every creature in the heaven, and on the earth and under the earth and in the sea and all therein, worshiping him who sits upon the throne and to the Lamb, to him be blessing and honour and glory and might for ever and ever. This paragraph is nothing short of amazing that such praise was given to Jesus Christ for willing to die on the Cross of Calvary. Revelation chapter 5 is such an important one to help us to focus, priorities of what is important, to show the immense price Jesus paid and the fact that God let his son go to be crucified.6 The good news is the God raised Jesus from the death the proof is that Jesus is alive in Revelation, speaking, acting, reigning, sitting on the throne. You and me will meet Jesus in person.7

These first five chapters of Revelation set the scene for the rest of the book.

1You do believe, but you feel you need help from others, minister, friend, books etc etc. You are saying you need more then your Bible to get an understanding. If you think this way clearly you are lacking in faith.

2The question is ,Who is it on the throne holding the scroll 5:1 ? The Lamb took the scroll from the person holding it v7, Therefore, can we say, God is holding the scroll who is on the throne v1 and because Jesus is the lamb worthy he takes it from the right hand of God.

3Note that Jesus had to conquer and did. In the seven churches you are asked to conquer. The hope is that you do conquer and accomplish God's will for you. Imagine what would happen to us if Jesus did not conquer he would not have gone to the cross and we would have been left in our sins. Thank goodness Jesus conquered. Look at Matthew chapters. 27 & 28.

4Picture 4 creatures representing 4 corners of the earth and the 24 elders, gives you a feeling that the Lamb slain is the center of mankind. He is, do not make the mistake of missing that point.

5Revelation chapter 21

6For any person or church that does not put the cross at the center of their ministry is making a terrible mistake. Revelation is stooped in the the fact that Jesus is worthy to reveal the future with its reality of action. It will happen.

7Jesus is alive today he helps us etc, but it will be great to meet him. John said, “...We heard him..we beheld him and touched him John 1: 1
