Chapter 6 Jesus opened the first seal and one of the living creatures said, “Come!”1
John saw a white horse, the rider had a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he went out to conquering and to conquer.” White represents purity, sins forgiven, white robes. The bow such as looking for prey, similar to fisher of men. Jesus said, “I will make you fisher of men,”2 The crown we know deals with a person of authority maybe a king. 'Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold your king is coming...” Talking about Jesus Christ.3 Conquering to conquer represents things such as Darkness did not overcome the light.4 Think about the night Jesus arrest. Three times he came to the Father asking if the cup of the journey to the cross could be taken away.5 Yet Jesus conquered gave his life up so that he would become the slain lamb we see in Revelation. So Jesus has conquered and continues to conquer which is happening every day as he reigns and people are pulled out of the world into God's Kingdom. This is happening every minute of the day even as I type these words. Have you thought abut these words that the strong man has to be tied before the house can be spoiled. Jesus said, “When a strong man, fully armed guards his own palace, his goods are in peace, but when one stronger then he assails him and overcomes him, he takes away the armour he has trusted...He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters.”6 This parable of Jesus fits in with conquering and to keep on conquering. Happening today as people are pulled out of the world out of the clutches of Satan (the strong man) and then into the Kingdom of God. So therefore, we see Jesus conquering and bringing people into the Kingdom of God and there will be a climax which we see in Revelation chapter 20-22.
Then the son of man opened the second seal and the the second living creature said, “Come!” and John saw a horse bright red and its rider was permitted to take peace from the earth, so that men should kill each other. The rider was given a great sword. The meaning of this second seal is easy to interpret because there is no hidden story, as is happening today there is no peace on the earth today as there has been no peace in history. Today people are killing each other as they did in history.7 This second seal fits in clearly the first seal we discussed, from the time of Jesus time to now and probably it will go into the future. The symbol of the bright red horse and the sword adds to a picture that people are busy deliberately killing each other. If we look at the world today we know people are killed all over the world, not a minute goes by that a person is not deliberately killed. Fancy that when God said, “You shall not kill.”8 Later you will see in Revelation 16 that a judgment in the third plague to people who shed blood..”. ..you have given them blood to drink. It is their due.” So people may be busy shedding blood, one day God will judge their actions. You will not get away with killing people. How do I know that. Revelation tells you.
Then the son of man opened the third seal and the third creature said, “Come!” John saw a black horse and its rider had a balance, then he heard a voice among the creatures saying, “a quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius, but do not hurt the oil and wine.” All commentators agree that a quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius, is talking about famine. Once again we see yesterday, today and no doubt in the future famines are every where, some are natural nature famines lack of water or famines caused by Governments policy of war where people become fugitives. Even in ancient days armies would siege a town it would last for years and because of lack of food people would even eat each other. For example the destruction of Jerusalem at about 80 AD. Roman soldiers siege the town for years and finally destroyed the temple. Imagine the tragedy of what happened to people at that time, famine, sword and more. A place where hell visited..
In spite of famine the oil and wine was not to be touched. Often you notice in the Old Testament it is said the harvest which consists of grain or wheat, grape wine and olive oil will not fail. The grain. oil, wine three important categories in Israel Society so even though famine and scarcity exists not everything is to be decimated, so in God's graciousness in spite of all the famine and pestilence God is letting mankind to continue. Similar to God giving the rainbow to show that the world will not be destroyed by a flood again that did destroy the ancient earth.9
The question to ask is why oil and wine is to be preserved. Oil was so important that when Elijah said to a woman give me a meal and get one for yourself and son. She did as Elijah asked and Elijah said your jar of meal and oil would not be used up till it rains again.10 I use Olive Extract myself and it is used to remove and virus, and has antibacterial properties. Oil is used for healing. James 5: 14, “If any one is sick among you...anointing him with oil...,” In Revelation we see “...two olive trees...stand before the Lord of the earth...”
To not harm the wine in Revelation offers plenty of discussion because wine can be used for happiness, drunkards, there is excess, wine good for the stomach.11
I am closer to
thinking that even though oil and wine is not to be harmed and the
son of man shows his graciousness by it being stable parts of the
food chain etc. Another area to think of, the Symbol oil and grapes,
because yesterday, today and tomorrow God is calling people to
repent therefore mankind in spite of their sin can be healed which
olive is part of and note that on Judgment day you are told the
angel had the sickle and reaped the earth. The grapes were ripe and
the grapes were thrown into a great wine press..12
So seeing olive branch for healing and grapes is part of Revelation
in healing, also repent and judgment.
Then the son of man opened the fourth seal and the fourth living creature said,
“Come!”14 “And John saw a pale horse and its riders name was Death and Hades followed him, and they were given power over the fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, famine and pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth” We notice the third seal talks about scarcity but here in the forth deal we are dealing with a scene of turbulence such as when Nebuchadnezzar captured Jerusalem. Read this description. In 589 BCE the Babylonians destroyed the Judean fortifications and intensified the siege. That which had been dreaded finally occurred: And in the ninth year of [Zedekiah’s] reign on the tenth day of the tenth month [Tevet], Nebuchadnezzar moved against Jerusalem with his whole army. He besieged it; and they built towers against it all around. The city continued in a state of siege until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah. (II Kings 25:1-2) The famine worsened. The Babylonians breached the walls and overran the city. They caught Zedekiah, who had fled, and brought him before the king of Babylon. Zedekiah’s sons were slain before his eyes, then he was blinded, chained in fetters and brought to Babylon. The Temple was burned to the ground in 586 BCE. Many Jews lost their lives. Judea was virtually emptied of its inhabitants; only a small community, headed by Gedaliah ben Ahikam, was left to prevent the country from being overrun by wild animals.15
I have given you this illustration to show you that yesterday, today and no doubt tomorrow the same situation will happen time and time again all around the world. Siege, war, pestilence, sword, death, mode of trouble may be different but the meaning is the same in Revelation chapter 6 :7-8. Simply put, when people are killed, die Hades does follow because it represents those who have died. Where Hades is there is no answer. Death is associated with Hades. No doubt the clever theologians will tell us where Hades is even if the Bible has not told. Hades is the place of the dead. (...The rich man in Hades, being in torment, lifted up his eyes...” ) I am closer to thinking it could be that Hades is where the people go who reject God, Jesus. Therefore, those who are saved by Jesus Christ are not in Hades but with Jesus Christ.16
Therefore, I have now placed the first four seals in a period from Jesus Christ to today and tomorrow until the Great Judgement Day17
The next two seals five and six, then the seventh are tantalizing in their application. So hold onto your hat. When the son of man opened the fifth seal18 all those who were killed for the word of God, cried out, “O Sovereign Lord holy and true, how long before you avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth.” I suppose the people who were killed for the faith some who were killed thousands of years ago, at Jesus time and now these saints are not asleep are they,19 They are calling out impatient waiting for justice to be served on those who killed. They were told to wait a little longer until all the saints that are to be killed is done. There is a time when the killing will be stopped and Judgement will be giving out to those who killed, not only the saints, but people who shed blood on the earth. All people need to be patient because God is in charge and we are to understand revenge belongs to God,20 And time is not to be measured as we do. Time is important to us because we are only alive for a few years, yet God's History is over thousands, hundreds of thousand ,and to God, one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day.21 The reason we also need to be patient, because God give people plenty of time to repent. The ultimate situation is that people in the end repent.22 God gives a definite time when all the promises of God , all the prophets have said will have happened and Jesus words. All the things the Bible had promised and warnings will happen. And those who were killed were given a white robe, clearly we know that those who become Christians, such as we, those who come to Jesus and have their sins forgiven are the one who have a white robe.23
When the son of man opened the sixth seal the whole world went into chaos, there was a great earthquake, the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale, the sky vanished like a scroll that is rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. This language is almost similar to Jesus's word in Matthew 24 :29-31. Notice Jesus words in v29 “...Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, the same as the sixth seal24 So to me it makes sense to keep my theme that the first four seals belong to Jesus Time to us and the future and then after this tribulation here, the trials, then there was a great earthquake...as the last paragraph described. If you like this is nature out of control the heavens the earth, but God has predicted this event thousands of years ago and he has warned people to listen to him because one day there would be a great Judgement Day. So in the sixth seal God's Judgement was starting to happen.
Needless to say people on the earth are terrified with what nature was doing so the kings,...the great men...generals...rich and strong...every one slave and free hid in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the lamb. For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand before it.25
As I have discussed earlier, God's forbearance makes it appear that things are always going on and on and nothing was going to change. People that do the wrong thing, people who deny authority, people who oppress people, people who are responsible for millions of people starving or being killed, people who disregard other people, people who say there is no God, the list can go on and on. Yet as Christians, we say, we warn people, there is a God. He created the world, man sinned, God sent his son into the world. His son was crucified. Jesus died for sins, your sin my sin. Jesus rose from the dead, Jesus is reining today. The Bible, God's Word has warned people, that anyone who wants, can come to Jesus and have their sins forgiven and become one of the children of God, and, therefore, will not come under God's Judgement. The Bible clearly shows there is a day of reckoning , look at Revelation 20 and for you, make no mistake, one day all the things that Prophets, Apostles, Jesus Christ, God, the promises and warnings will happen. Re-iterate the point, I will warn you, God's appearance of doing nothing, or slow is that he is showing his goodness by giving you more time to repent. Read this in Revelation 10 : 6-7 “...there should be no more delay...and what the servants the prophets will be fulfilled.” One day, sooner then you think all things will be completed and the climax is that God's people, you and I that are Christians will be in the new heavens and new earth where righteousness reigns, there will be no mourning, crying, pain, no death, God will be with us as Revelation Chapter 21 tells us.
So the event that no one thought would happed is
happening and they see the son of man coming in the clouds
26 Now, all people are trying to get away from judge
who is sitting on his glorious throne27
After thousands of years and for thousands of years wonderful
promises and thousands of years of warning people to listen to God,
God finally reveals himself and where once people had a choice and
said, No! I want nothing to do with God. God then shows his power
and completes the destiny of the heaven and the earth that was
ruined by sin and God put things right so that great day of
Judgement and the day when Jesus gives the kingdom to God.
Now into chapter 7 we go.
1The word, Come! Come is used making a clear statement for John to come and see what is going to happen and this happens in the four seals.
2Mark 1: 17
3John 12 : 15
4John 1: 5 Talking about Jesus Christ.
5Matthew 26 :39-44 “My Father, if it be possible let this cup pass from you.”
6Luke 11 : 21=23
7Think about Muslims killing each other. Sudan, Africa, even in the West people are killing each other. To make the point even in Australia we read almost every day some one has killed another, family, friends, acquaintances, anybody that stands in their way. Some people are responsible for killing their own race. Prophecy in place because people do not know God. They claim to know God, yet they do not know him because the true God and his son Jesus Christ is a God of love and those who know God treat their neighbour in the way themselves want to be treated and no one wants themselves killed. I bet that is the case.
8Exodus 19 :13
9Genesis chapter 6-9
101 King 17 :12-16. Olive is a principal source of feed and cooking oil to most of the countries near the Mediterranean
111 Timothy 5 :23
12Revelation 14 :18-20.
131 John 1 : 2.
14Have you picked up that so far 4 seals are opened and there are four living creatures around the throne and so far each creature has said to John, “Come!” four creatures are not mentioned with the other seals so four can be something complete has opened and we are now moving the fifth seal onto something else.
16I am preparing a publication of what happens when you die and will discuss the resurrection as well.
17Revelation chapter 20
18Notice in the fifth seal the creature has not said to John “Come!” and that is because the four creatures in the first four seals deal with our Christian life past, today and tomorrow. The next three seals to open we would not know or imagine except we have been told.
19I am definitely doing a publication on whether you are asleep when you die or whether you are alive with Jesus.
20Hebrews 10 : 30, “...Vengeance is mine, I will repay...”
212 Peter 3: 8
222 Peter 3: 9
23 “...who are these robed in white...they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the lamb. “ Revelation 7: 13-14. The next verses here Revelation 7: 15-17, “...They shall hunger no more...God will wipe away tear from their eyes” This is a situation with all Christians. We will discuss more when we go into chapter 7.
24 We need to remember one day is like a thousand years, so immediately does not have to mean instant as we know it. Immediate could be hours, days weeks, years to God that would be immediate. Similar to 1 John 2:18, “Children, it is the last hour...” Yet the last hour in John to today , has been about two thousand years.
25 I will foot note this again because it is an important chapter in Revelation 6 12-17.
26 Revelation 1 : 7
27 Matthew 25 : 31-46 These verses talk about the judgement day. “.. and people will see the Son of man in his glory and all the angels with him then he will sit on his glorious throne and all the nations will be gathered before him...”
28 Purely Evangelistic meeting, calling people not to forget God. Listen to him and repent.
29 Matthew 24 : 14
30 As we know there is physical Israel we see in history and we see spiritual Israel. There is a number only God knows, then the end comes. Romans 11 : 25-27
31 Dealing with God's people. There is much discussion that Israel the physical nation still has a special place in Salvation and Jesus.. True or false. I will put out a publication myself, because a case can be made that true Israel is those believe in Faith. The Faith of Abraham not the physical Israel. Jesus said about Israel your house is desolate. Luke 13 :35.
32 Revelation 7 :1-3
33 Revelation 9 : 13-21
34 Revelation 20 : 2-3
35 Revelation 3 : 10 “
