Bible Revelation  Chapter 7

..............................................
We now see an interlude in Revelation, the sixth seal has been opened in chapter 6 and the seventh seal is opened in the next chapter 8 a dramatic event happens. Let's go back to Chapter 7 I believe is deliberately placed to give special mention to God's people, after all we know when the last Christian comes into the kingdom of God, the end will be. We can identify the end by words such as, “...this gospel of the kingdom will preached throughout the whole world, as a testimony to all nations: then the end will come...”1 So the job is done Israel is complete the last number has gone into the kingdom of God. 2 To get the setting right Romans 11 can help, because we are told when all the Gentiles come in. (Talking about Gentiles such as most of you or I ) then all Israel will be saved. The next words will show you we are talking about Israel as God's people “...The Deliverer will come from Zion and will banish ungodliness from Jacob and this will be my covenant with them when I take away their sins.”3

“...I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, that no wind would blow on the earth, or sea...another angel...called with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm earth and sea...”4 In a few moments we will see that the four angels were about to harm mankind, and will be let loose after the seventh seal is opened in chapter 9. In chapter 7 we see God's people being looked after. “...do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God upon their foreheads. Now we move into the hundred and forty-four thousand people sealed from the twelve tribes twelve thousand from each. John then saw a multitude which no man could number from every nation..” They were before the throne in white robes praising God “ Then one of the elders addressed John saying, “Who are these, clothed in white robes, and whence have they come” The elder answered him be saying, you know where they come from and the elder replied by saying they who have come from the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the lamb, we notice a few more hints given in answer to John who they are. “...They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more...and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes...” Putting the pieces together this chapter pictures what is happening today. At the moment Satan has been bound, (we will discuss it in chapter 20) The immense distress on the earth and people discussed in this book of Revelation is not happening yet, so it makes sense to say the four angels to injure mankind have been stopped until a particular time, the four angels “... who had been held ready for the hour, the day, the month and the year, to kill a third of mankind...”5 This means that chapter 7 shows that Christians are being looked after by God, imagine what would be happening today if the four angels were let loose on the earth. We think terrible things are happening today, but it appears that Satan has had his power curtailed,6 we can thank God for that. We will discuss shortly, that Satan will be loosed for a while, and the son of man has said he will save us from that hour of trial, that is going on the whole earth.7

In chapter 8 we  will see the son of man opening the seventh seal and there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. Any discerning person would realise that something pretty dramatic was about to happen, so every body in heaven is holding their breath.

I want to highlight this pause in heaven. Imagine, the son of man opens the seventh seal and then a breathtaking pause, no noise no movement, sheer silence for about half an hour. We can ask, What is this pause about? Well, finally it was going to happen. What is going to happen? Well,

Let us look at chapter 8

1 Matthew 24 : 14

2 As we know there is physical Israel we see in history and we see spiritual Israel. There is a number only God knows, then the end comes. Romans 11 : 25-27

3 Dealing with God's people. There is much discussion that Israel the physical nation still has a special place in Salvation and Jesus.. True or false. I will put out a publication myself, because a case can be made that true Israel is those believe in Faith. The Faith of Abraham not the physical Israel. Jesus said about Israel your house is desolate. Luke 13 :35.
